Rocket launch scene analysis

camera work

in the rocket launch scene, the director used a variety of different camera angles and perspective like a long shot, bird eyes view, etc I think they use different camera angles and perspectives to show more realism in the scene example use of random cuts of security camera footage to show more realism and amplify the cinematic effect in the scene. another thing the director added the shot of the wildly large audition watching the rocket launch they used this to make the scene more anticipated and intense by showing people react to it like scared, nervous, happy, etc to amplify the emotion of the scene .in the documentary film Apollo 11 director todd miller uses a variety of cinematography and sound techniques to build up anticipation, suspense and to draw into the experience. in the final moments of the countdown and the audience is shown camera shots of the control room, the viewing platform, and the public are used to show the audience how the rocket launch was the center of the world’s attention.

sound and music

in unisons with these shots, Millar adds in sound effects such as background music, non-diegetic, and diegetic sounds for example the heartbeat sound effect before 10 seconds of the rocket launch. I think the director added this sound effect to make you feel like you are present in the scene and to build more suspense and anticipation before the rocket launch. Another example of this is the use of dramatic background music after the rocket launch scene. I think the director added this to show or build emotion. When the rocket successfully launched and was flying up to Space that scene was pretty intense so to match the mood of this scene I think they decided to add the dramatic music this music.we can also hear the radio traffic between the astronauts and the control room to give the sense of realism. the 10-second countdown before the rocket launch to build suspense to the scene.
